Scheduled for Restoration
This Grade II, listed building, stands proud, but it is in desperate need of restoration, which will be costly.
Sutton Council has been committed to bringing this much loved building back to its former glory.
Working with the local residents’ association, the council approached both the National Trust and English Heritage; neither took it on. Even the Landmark Trust couldn’t make it work on a very low rent.
Sutton Council never gave up on the Old Rectory or its mission to bring it back to life as an important community asset.
The challenge was finding the right buyer – someone who understood both the history and the costs of restoration.
The building was independently marketed and the sale price reflects the work needed to restore the building. We’re delighted to have now found a buyer, who will do just that.
The Old Rectory will be brought back to life, and we can’t wait to see it restored to its former glory!
